The “One Big Beautiful Bill” still contains language that threatens the Boundary Waters by undoing the mining moratorium on over 225,000 acres in the Rainy River Watershed, returns mining leases to Twin Metals directly upstream from the wilderness, prohibits judicial review of these decisions, and fast-tracks the permitting process, affecting millions of acres of public lands in Northeast Minnesota. And that’s just how this bill impacts the Boundary Waters! It also includes language that would open a massive swath of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling for oil.
